verwerken. Hierbij kan bijvoorbeeld gedacht worden aan een (verkeers)ongeluk, een brand, medische behandelingen en pesterijen. Misschien is het \u00e9\u00e9n keer gebeurd, maar het kan ook meerdere keren gebeurd zijn. Door zo\u2019n vervelende gebeurtenis kan een kind zich anders zijn gaan voelen. Wat er gebeurd is, blijft maar als een soort film terugkomen in zijn of haar hoofd. Het kan ook zijn dat een kind nergens meer zin in heeft, dat een kind niet goed kan slapen, dat een kind snel boos wordt of dat een kind zich moeilijk kan concentreren.<\/p>\n<p><b>EMDR<\/b> is een behandeling om zo\u2019n nare gebeurtenis te verwerken. Als de gebeurtenis \u00e9\u00e9n keer plaatsgevonden heeft, gaat de behandeling meestal sneller dan dat een kind iets voor een langere tijd meegemaakt heeft. Soms wordt dit plaatje getekend. Samen met de therapeut gaat het kind er aan werken om dit plaatje niet meer zo vervelend te vinden. Dat gaat op de volgende manier: het kind denkt aan het plaatje en wat hij daarbij denkt en voelt en tegelijkertijd doet hij iets heel anders: \u2013 met zijn\/haar ogen de vingers van de therapeut volgen, die voor het gezicht heen en weer bewegen of luisteren naar geluidjes via een koptelefoon of met je handen trommelen op de handen van de therapeut (of hij op die van het kind). Tussendoor vraagt de therapeut telkens aan een kind: \u201cWat merk je?\u201d of \u201cWat komt er in je op?\u201d. De behandeling gaat door totdat het kind naar het \u2018plaatje in zijn hoofd\u2019 of de tekening kan kijken zonder het vervelend te vinden.
